(To the tune of “Tie A Yellow Ribbon”)
I’ve tied a yellow ribbon round my old oak tree
I live on Forest Hills
They’re going to clear cut me
They’re going to put an interstate in front of my front door
They say it’s so all
Can get to the Mall
But Bass Pro wouldn’t agree
So me and all my neighbors ask ourselves what could this be for?
Oh, now I hear my front yard will be scraped away
I’ll step off my front porch
Into the right-of-way
I never thought that C. Jack would agree with little ‘ole me
They’ll go on with the show
Just to spend dough
They’re on a spending spree
While we’re stuck here with yellow ribbons ’round all of our trees

All of we citizens who drive Forest Hill Road and marvel at the beauty of all those old growth trees ought to go & lay our bodies down across the road when the first chain saw shows up…..face it, folks, the Macon Mall is passe’ & is in a terrible decline & once the Bass Pro area gets going, that wil be the Mid Ga premium shopping area. GA DOT is so behind the times and trends - am amazed they are still using mules to plow.

I agree Forest Hill Road only needs minor repairs, actually we should let the millions of dollars go by the wayside, and stick to the issue, and stand together and stop the ripping apart of that community.Anyone interested contact me, Its not over until the —–ETC——– sings.

To the first “Anonymous”: “GA DOT is so behind the times and trends….” Is it actually the Georgia DOT that’s behind the Forest Hill Road changes? Find out and get back to us.
To the second “Anonymous”: “Anyone interested contact me ….” That’s fine, but how?
To all “Anonymouses”: Try to use some sort of names for yourselves, even if it’s not your actual name. Type something in the “Name” block. There are too many “Anonymouses” in the house.

Yes GaDOT is behind the Forest Hill Road project…Bibb county had the road designated a temporary state road (highway?) for the project so GaDOT has full control to use State and Federal money.
The problem is the Macon/Bibb road “engineers” are working from decades old maps..they are trying to connect 75 with 75 along Log Cabin to Forest Hill thinking this will spur development. Wake up and realize the development has moved out to Bass road and Zebulon. It’s time to make 75/475 a full interchange and widen Bass/Foster/Tucker to Thomaston.

In years long past, Riverside Drive, Gray Highway, Mercer University Drive, Vineville Avenue, to name a few, were tree lined residential areas. How many lanes do you see there now? What is the POSTED speed limit and how fast to folks drive, How many residences do you see there now? How many commercial establishments do you see there now? How many trees do you see there now? How much CONCRETE do you see there now? Current score: The winner is currently CONCRETE. What happened to the TREES? Review: The local, state, and federal government must have been sleeping while this was taking place!
WAKE UP FOLKS, you could be next!

Just say the Bibb Commissioners have the final say, So who do you go to.
1) Charlie Bishop. Yea right he wants the paving,
2) Elmo Richardson, He is for it,
3) Sam Hart. He might be for the community.
3)Bert Bivins, get in touch with him.
4) Joe Allen. He said he would help us, but we had to get the votes, 3, I think he said to stop this, So lets get working, Call them at 478-621-6345.

All the Bibb Commishes SOLD us out.
Read about it on their officials minutes:
“On motion of Commissioner Richardson, seconded by Commissioner Allen and carried,
the members of the Board voted unanimously to accept the recommendation of
Commissioner Linnenkohl to complete the Houston Road Project using the funds
allocated for other projects and to support the completion of the 1-75 / 1-16 interchange
and the Forest Hill Road Project”

If the road improvement is only taking 10 feet of our property, then why is there a stake in my front yard 40 feet from the edge of the pavement that says permenant right of way?
Can anyone explain?
