Had to squeeze this in before we leave town for the blessed event.
At the same time Cumulus is hiring Chris Krok to take Erik Erickson’s place on the moring slot on WMAC-AM along with Ron Frazier, Register Communications and The Telegraph have teamed up to bring back Kenny Burgamy and team him with Charles Richardson in a multimedia morning show. Their 6-9 a.m. talk show will air on WPGA-FM 100.9 and on www.macon.com. The first hour will also be broadcast live on Register’s WPGA-TV.
You may know that Krok came into town and substituted at WMAC-AM for two days and caused quite a stir, arguing on air with Elaine Lucas, Rick Hutto and, well, whoever else called. Here’s what he posted on his blog about his stay. (Thanks to Macon On The Move for the link.)
Want to see what Chris Krok looks like? Want to see what Chris Krok looks like when he is getting tasered? Then click here.
So it will be Chris Krok and Ron Frasier vs Kenny Burgamy and Charles Richardson. All of a sudden radio (and the internet and television) in Maconga will be getting pretty interesting in the morning.

Wow! Prayers really do get answered sometimes. Back when Mr. McBryde was being canned for utter stupidity, I believe I mentioned that I missed the old days with Kenny B. and Charles Richardson. Well, whaddaya know… they’re baaaaaaaaack!
I had the missfortune of hearing “the Krok” when he filled in. I predict he will be here about as long as McBryde was.
As Forrest said: “Stupid is as stupid does.”
Or, as the ORIGINAL Joker said:”This town needs an enema!”

2 Cotton Avenue Solon // Aug 13, 2008 at 9:26 am
Gregster……..you’re probably right about the enema, and “The Krok” not lasting long, but let’s give them a shot and let them slug it out!!!
True die-hard boxing fans wanna see some blood, man! Perhaps Mr. DUNCE will make a guest appearance at the title bout, which should be held at the City Auditorium (just like the old days).
I sure hope Kenny B. knows not to wear his nice Polos in the ring.

There is a third option: 1350 WNNG and 103.9 WRPG both carry Bill Bennett in the 6-9am timeslot, and 1350 WNNG has a live, local talk show starting the following Monday 12:30-3pm. WNNG also has the midstate’s only full-length radio newscasts, at noon and 5:30 (immediately following the WMAZ-TV 5:00 newscast). So give WNNG a chance–you won’t be disappointed.

So happy that Kenny and Charles will be together again. The best part of the matchup will be watching them on tv from 6 to 7 am. The AM940 crowd is very old and set in their ways so no matter how bad the new guy is they will mostly keep listening.
With Kenny going to this additional gig, will Jami do news headlines on the show? The loser may be WMGT. The station has struggled with the 6 to 7 slot since it hit the air in 2004. If WPGA gets any viewers at all WMGT may decide to cash in their chips.

After watching Krock get ‘tased’, couldn’t help wonder if Elaine “arranges” a local tasing for him.

Merceralum I can’t get 103.9 in some parts of Middle GA.

Hey, anchor, I am getting pop up adds on this site. Is that intentional or have you been taken over some how?
8 Cotton Avenue Solon // Aug 13, 2008 at 12:00 pm
JustMine………….don’t worry, the Lucas Political Machine will more than taser Krock. He has no clue what’s in store for him here in the metropolis of Maconga.

kturner, what parts? Also, have you tried 1350AM?

Now if we could only get Ellis back in the mayor’s office things would really get interesting (just kidding, of course). Kenny & Charles should win by default. Krok either won’t last in Macon, or won’t last with Cumulus.
13 gladiolus // Aug 13, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Is the Krok guy about 12 years old? I am an agist I guess, but these young guys who don’t know Jack (haha, pun), about current affairs crack me up.
14 gladiolus // Aug 13, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Where is Cotton? He might have an official Allenopoulos update.

Gus, I see now that a pop-up pops up. I apologize for that. I ain’t a computer programming whiz but I bet it will wind up having to do with a so-called plugin I installed over the weekend to try to allow me to make posts from my cell phone (didn’t work). I hate pop-ups. Let me get back in town and I’ll get it fixed. Gr-r-r-r.

Geesh, no more fast food on 3 lane debacle .

MaconOnTheMove…….there are lots of folks who share your sense of loss. What are we gonna do at 1:oo AM…….drive all the way out to Zebulon?
Just think, a few years ago, in addition to the Krystal, Vineville Avenue could boast of having a Wendy’s, a Burger King, a Hardees and a KFC.

Say, what happened to my Joe Allen post? It was fair and appropriate.
23 kturnerga // Aug 15, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Vineville is slowly becoming gangsta land. The growth migrated to Tom Hill then to Zebulon so Vineville may be third in North Macon’s retail sector.
24 Ima Thinkin // Aug 15, 2008 at 6:31 pm
“… Vineville may be third in North Macon’s retail sector….”
…so be proactive, Kturnerga, and go tell a cop! lol!!
25 gladiolus // Aug 15, 2008 at 7:13 pm
The science of the studies these guys do to put corporate (food, drug stores, smoothies) in your neighborhood is stunning. And stupid. I hate it.
………..In ancient times, I was connected to a blog from Univ. of Wisconsin. Their anchor traveled a lot, and he would assign an assistant anchor to take over. I think it would be so neat if Cotton were “Interim Anchor”!
26 Georgia Gal // Aug 16, 2008 at 11:06 am
I’m just anxious to know whether we have a baby yet!!!! That poor girl must feel as though she is going to be pregnant for the rest of her life!! Come on, Anchor! I’m sure you think you have other priorities but you have a lot of people in Middle Georgia hanging on by their finger nails waiting for the news.
SERIOUSLY: We are all praying for a safe and healthy delivery.
27 Cotton Avenue Solon // Aug 16, 2008 at 11:07 am
Kturnerga……….I would not go that far and call it “gangsta”. Hopefully Vineville along with Forsyth Road will rebound (with The Fresh Market) and continue to be a much-needed “neighborhood” commercial corridor.
Vineville and Forsyth Road could never compete with Tom Hill or Zebulon. Those are much bigger retail centers that draw customers from larger areas.
28 Cotton Avenue Solon // Aug 16, 2008 at 11:21 am
Gladiolus……..thank you for the recommendation, but we do not need an “Interim Anchor”. Just think of this down-time as an opportunity to re-collect our thoughts and freshen up our act.
Also, ImaThinkin, Citronella, yourself, et al, would have time to go visit Augustus out on his private compound in the expansive rural backwoods of Monroe County. This “outing” would do all of you a lot of good.
Then you all could come back re-energized and re-grouped, and ready to scour the news that our Anchor presents

The way we are basing all existence on the bloody interstates it not good for locals. Interstate access should not be the sole consideration for businesses.
I am amazed and proud of those Greesnboro, NC folks. I am glad they still own it after all those months with Golden Slacks advising them…

Starbucks and Nordstrom are back under the auspices of their founders. Nordstrom wrested their company from people they did not believe in and took it back. Looks like Starbucks hopes for the same.

Re Gangstas on Vineville, Stanislau, Ingleside, Freedom Park, Payne City etc, tis sad but true…
We might get excited about news of periodic drug raids if the mid-ga drug squads and prosecutors ever start seizing the Real Estate of drug dealers. Mid-Ga is getting to be known around the country as one of the safest place for drug dealers to do business.
It would help if the Judges set the bail the same as they would if the drug dealer lived next door to them or the Day Care Center or Elementary School that their children attend.
Until then, the local criminal justice system is just playing games with the lives of citizens and the street level law enforcement officers that have to re-catch these druggies with guns.
If you aren’t going to get tough on crime, please get out of the criminal justice system as soon as possible.

Ima………very interesting that you mention Mr. Davis’ LATEST resignation. How many times and from how many different governmental agencies has this man retired from? What in the hell is going on with this multi-career politico??????
Would anybody venture to guess how many government pension checks he will be receiving?
34 Cotton Avenue Solon // Aug 16, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Augustus…….now that you mentioned it, I just realized that your last Joe Allen post and my response to your post, have both apparently assumed room temperature.
As I had mentioned in my post to your comments about the revered and wise, Mr. Allenopoulos, how fair and truthful were your comments?
35 augustus // Aug 16, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Cotton, the ex king, I am doing just fine with a minimum of visitors. Why not invite them all to your intown estate for a steak dinner?
As to Joe Allen, I was just reporting and discussing the news. That seems fair, and I always tell the truth. I did not see your comment.
36 gladiolus // Aug 17, 2008 at 9:30 am
I am tired of hearing of the double — triple– quadruple dippers, so forget about Davis. However, I never ever saw Gus’s fair and balanced Allen post on my machine. Where is it?
37 Ima Thinkin // Aug 17, 2008 at 10:32 am
NeighborsWatching, while I am in agreement with your observation that our legal system needs to crack down on criminals, I wonder at your statement:
“Mid-Ga is getting to be known around the country as one of the safest place for drug dealers to do business.”
Where are you getting this information, or are you spinning, as you are prone to do? Please cite your source.
38 Ima Thinkin // Aug 17, 2008 at 11:34 am
Gee whiz, Augustus, I’m all dressed up with no place to go!! Glad, Citro, I think we were just dumped, and Glad, if you remember, this is not the first time. Gus, you are proving unreliable in both business ventures and social obligations. Shouldn’t we expect more from the back woods of Monroe County?
39 augustus // Aug 17, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Ima, Cotton’s house is way more fun than my little place in the woods. As an ex King he is living large with a huge, guitar shaped swimming pool, an entertainment center with multiple giant screen TVs, all HD, the Chinese chef, the Elvis memorabilia room, wine cellar, etc. I make do with a used travel trailer and hot plate.
40 gladiolus // Aug 17, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Ima:
I got a gorgeous, handmade paper, engraved invitation to the Monroe County SocialCountryElite Club but it was not written in Bibbian, and I could not decipher! And I was so distracted by the image of that cute little baby in Charlotte, I could barely stand it. And Lila was pretty cute in that picture, too!
Sorry, Gus, I cannot join the MoRoCo Country Club as I am not of that ilk! I am just too traila trash for such high level associations!
41 Cotton Avenue Solon // Aug 17, 2008 at 5:22 pm
I must inform you, Augustus, that an ordinary steak dinner would just not cut it. If Ima, Gladiolus and Citronella were to grace my presence as guests in my residence, then I would propose the following 9-course French dinner:
Gruyere Cheese Gougere of Oysters & Pearls
Saute of Moulard Duck Foie Gras
Fillet of Columbia River with a Cassoulet of Pole Beans & Oven Roasted Roma Tomatoes
Pan Roasted Guerro Lucumb Bay Scallop
Agnolotti of Summer White Corn
Calotte de Boeuf Grillee
Hayden Mango Sorbet
Tentation au Chocolat Noisette et Lait

Gus, never forget the Piazza alla Cotton where his statue of the Winged Nike of Samothrace is ensconced, and please don’t leave off his original Rodin, “The Burghers of Calais” which is housed, of course, in his library filled with first editions. He purchases these yearly at Sotheby’s best auctions. This is where he acquired all his Lewis Grizzard signed first editions.
44 augustus // Aug 17, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Cotton, not sure if I have even heard of the food you mentioned, but I know I’ve never had any. It’s good to be King, even an ex King. I am more the boiled hotdog and can of beans guy, but my taxes are lower!
One question. You eat the food of the surrender nation, yet you fight on for consolidation. Must be all that cork popping.
45 Ima Thinkin // Aug 17, 2008 at 7:21 pm

47 Cotton Avenue Solon // Aug 17, 2008 at 10:45 pm
Don’t worry Ima, notwithstanding all that “cork popping”, you’ll be escorted straight to “Art” wing of the residence prior to our dinner.
The “King” is nowhere to be found in my house.
48 glad // Aug 18, 2008 at 11:14 am
I think if there is any Elvis, it is not on velvet, and it is encrypted into some ancient vessels designed by a Solon from the 3rd c BC. Richard Keresy, an expert from Sotheby’s and Jonty Hearndon of Kaminsky’s in London have valued that piece at 500 Bazillion dollars. Ima, Citro and Gus, if we get over there and it, we need to steal it and retire.
49 gladiolus // Aug 18, 2008 at 11:22 am
SPY ALERT! And a one-time posting first!!!
Glad has a post that PERTAINS to the theme!!! GADszooks!
My downtown spies just called and said the Kenny and Charles show will be GREAT!!!! Yahoo. Can you imagine me not getting totally off-topic and giving tips for building a bird house rather than keeping to the theme of this thread!!! Phenomenon. This may be a one time thing, since I need to be impertinent.
50 augustus // Aug 18, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Cotton seems ashamed of his Elvis collection and denied it in fact. Hmmmm….
I wonder if Cotton’s house is where the real Elvis is alive and hiding out!!!! Could that be the reason for Cotton, the ex King, to play things down? It also explains the pool. Did Cotton come to town about the same time Elvis “disappeared?” Is anyone ready to testify that they have ever seen Cotton and Elvis at the same time, in the same place? Hmmm….
Now that Bigfoot has apparently been found in Ga, is it beyond possibility to find Elvis in Ga? Just asking.
51 Cotton Avenue Solon // Aug 18, 2008 at 6:21 pm
Gladiolus……..I share your excitement about the return of Charles and Kenny!!! This new guy, Krok, is a joke…………this morning he was screaming, fussing and carrying on like a madman.
I have forewarned him about the Lucas Political Machine that has its tentacles spread deep into Maconga’s political fabric. If he’s not careful he will be steamrolled right out of town.

Krok-o-S*** this morning was mocking Elaine in a screaming black female voice.
Then started attacking Joe Allen, Maurice Adkinson, etc.
Ken Jones, owner of Ken’s Stereo Junction, called to defend Joe Allen. KROK cut him off, saying he was talking about Elaine now, to call back when he was talking about Joe.
I would imagine Ken spends alot of money with Cumulus. If this guy starts pissing off major advertisers, he will be outta there like **** thru a goose.

I am having a huge 18 wheeler of diet Coke sent over to the radio studio for Kenny B. We gotta keep that guy happy this time. He can never desert us again. Just today, I realized how terrible my life has been, mornings without his take on today’s events. Letterman filled the void (Yes, via TiVo since I never stay up that late), for a little bit, but I have finally fessed up to myself that I cannot WAIT to have that show back on the air. All hail, Sir Charles of the Even Temperament!

High level math for Cotton:
Add Krok and Frazier IQs
and then divide by Charles R. and Kenny B IQs
What is the answer?
Show your work.
58 Cotton Avenue Solon // Aug 21, 2008 at 9:32 am
Krok = 18
Frazier = 19
Kenny = 130
Charles = 132
37 divided by 262 = .14

No, silly Cotton. Don’t you know what the Solon of your name means. That’s right, go into the den and ask Mrs. Cotton. She will tell you that you need not have pi. Also, tell Mrs. C. you did a good job of showing your work. I can never understand why students refuse to show their work!

Krok is the poorest excuse for a talk show host I’ve ever seen. 940 has sunk to the depths with this clown!
64 Michelle // Aug 29, 2008 at 10:51 am
I did a google search looking for a forum at the radio station to voice my dumbfounded shock at the disrespect Chris Krok gave an obviously older caller this morning on his show. They did not have such a place for public opinion, but you do…thank you.
As long as Chris Krok is on, my radio will never go to 940 until 9:00 am. I have flipped over a couple of times (this morning being one of the two times) and cannot last longer than 5 minutes…he has to be one of the rudest people I’ve heard. It’s a shame I can’t get those 10 minutes of my life back.
In the mornings I’ll be at 1350 listening to Dr. Bennett.
