Ellis gets a job

August 23rd, 2008 · 6 Comments

Ellis will oversee [...]

June 12th, 2008 · 28 Comments

I’m on thin ice here, I acknowledge, and welcome someone with understanding and knowledge greater than mine. But consider these items drawn from disparate sources:

The 2005 SPLOST will have raised its goal prior to the 2009 target date: “This SPLOST is set to run until March 2009, but officials say that by the end [...]

Macon City Council’s soliloquy

June 2nd, 2008 · 40 Comments

To privatize garbage collection or not to privatize garbage collection - that is the question:

The slings and arrows of outrageous public works employees who may face normal private enterprise employment practices, including drug testing,
Or to take arms against those who would create a sea of troubles for [...]

“It just didn’t feel right,” councilman Rick Hutto added.
“I’m new around here but I could tell something was wrong,” added City Council member Erick-Woods Erickson.
What they’re talking about, of course, is the recent apparent correction in relations between Macon’s Mayor Robert Reichert and [...]

Joe and ‘Mo say no

May 6th, 2008 · 16 Comments

It was a good try while it lasted. But, like Eight Belles at the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, the Bibb County commissioners thought that Mayor Reichert’s annexation plan had to be put down. And this afternoon Joe Allen and Elmo Richardson, at a commissioner’s committee meeting, did just that.
You’ll have to read The [...]
