I can just feel the love.  All the women are walking around in orange pants suits.  People will walk up to you, a perfect stranger, look you in the eye, take your hand and say, Yes we can. And I will say to them, We can what? and they will say, I don’t know, that’s not important, but yes we can.

I hear a loud thundering noise from inside the Pepsi Center.  I ask this guy, what’s happening?  He says that Bill Clinton has taken the stage.  I said, I sure wish I could see Bill Clinton bite his tongue and speak at the same time.  So this guy says, yes you can, and I sneak in through an air conditioning duct.

I meet a delegate from California dressed in sunglasses shaped like stars and wearing a cowboy hat with “Hillary” across the front.  I point my Flip video camera at her and say, good evening, this is WMCC News.  Tell us what is going through your mind.

And she says, Why do you guys always ask that question?  We’re all waiting for Hillary to give us the secret signal so we can attack the stage and take over the convention.  What if she urges you to support Obama, I ask.  That will be another secret signal for us to vote for McCain, she responds.

I then go up to an Obama delegate and ask, What is going through your mind?  And he says, We understand Barack is going to pay a surprise visit tonight and that he’s going to fly in.  And I say, He’s going to fly in from Montana?  And he says, No, he’s going to fly in the front door of the convention center and do that fly-walk thing around the convention ceiling like the Chinese did at the Olympics except he ain’t going to be wearing any cables, he’s gonna really be flying.  He can do that, you know.

Then a woman who was obviously not wearing a piece of upper undergarment comes up to me and thrusts a small flat purple package into my hand.  Here, she says, you look like you could use this, and walks away.  I look at what she’s given me and finally figure out the Democratic Party’s secret weapon to beat John MCain.

Bitch Ph.D.: “I believe that M. LeBlanc is probably standing in a Very No Shit Security Line right this minute trying to get into the Pepsi Center for today’s convention coverage–which you all are, of course, watching on the teevee in the cool and refreshing convenience of your own homes.”

Georgia Politics Unfiltered: “Earlier this afternoon, the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Howard Dean hosted a barbeque with a handful of bloggers credentialed to cover the historic 2008 Democratic National Convention…’The damage the Republicans did to us when we weren’t showing up in all those states was not ‘our values are bad’…the damage was we didn’t have any values,’ Dean said. ‘We have really strong values. If people knew what our values were and why we believe what we believe, they wouldn’t have any trouble voting for us.’”

Mainstream press has been working 24/7 to exploit the story line that there is a great division between Clinton and Obama supporters. Frankly, that’s not what I see here tonight, and not what I have seen here in Denver…Yes, there have been protests, and, yes, some delegates are unhappy and believe that she should be the nominee, but based on my interaction with delegates, the story of the ‘division’ in the Democratic Party is greatly over-stated in the mainstream press.” (By Amy Morton of Macon.)

DoubleSpeak: “Speaking of healthy, the McCain campaign has even taken to suggesting that Barack is too thin to be President. McCain’s campaign manager Rick Davis issued a memo in which he attacked Obama for working out and eating healthy food. I mean, who does that? Protein bars? Organic tea? In John McCain’s America, a protein bar would be a deep-fried turducken wrapped in bacon…Clearly, Barack Obama is too fit.”

Jack Ellis has been designated an honorary consul by the east African country of Uganda, the former Macon mayor announced Friday in a news release.

Ellis will oversee the welfare of Ugandan nationals residing in Georgia and other southeastern states, according to the release. He also will promote commercial, economic, trade, investment and other interests of Uganda, the release said…

He will take his oath of office Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. at his new consul office located in Centennial Tower, 101 Marietta St., Suite 3410, in Atlanta.

Actually, he was previously named an “Honorary Consul General” of Uganda but apparently this “honorary” designation comes with an office.

Honorary.  Oh, well.

The Presidential candidate recently had to refer to a staff member a question from a reporter on how many houses he owned.  (He and his wife Cindy reportedly own seven.)

The College Street house is located between the old Beall’s Restaurant location and the home of Billy and Janet Walker.  The house has been in deteriorating condition for years.

“I can’t tell you how long we’ve been trying to find out who owned that house,” Billy Walker said.  “We kept being referred to a Budweiser beer warehouse in Phoenix.

“After the McCain gaff got out about all his houses, however, a reported called us and told us that McCain owned the house next door.  So we called McCain.”

“We asked him when he was going to fix that house up,” Janet Walker chimed in. “I told him he had just let that house go to pieces and we didn’t appreciate it one bit.  I gave him a piece of my mind.

“He wanted me to talk to one of his staff people but I wouldn’t let him off the phone,” Janet continued.  “So, after about ten minutes he said he really had to go and that he would just sell the place to us.  So, that’s what he did and now we own it!”

So now John and Cindy McCain only own six houses.
